You are spot on. The Dutch have done, and continue to do, a LOT of things right. However in 2003 their system of emergency care was badly in need of an overhaul. A Dutch surgeon in AMS and a variety of others had the vision to realize that. They then reached out to me and a few other key people and the rest is history. Things are now WAY better, but the early days felt like a daily battle. I may write more about the experience at some point.
