I'm sorry you had the medical experience that you did. As far as radiology is concerned, I would often say, as I looked at "films" that I had done NONE of the 4 years of a radiology residency. I knew what I knew and was keenly aware of and humbled by what I didn't. I would always tell patients that my "read" was preliminary and that an expert would be definitively interpreting their images shortly. That said, our concordance was nearly perfect. The more direct answer to your question is that most ER Docs probably get a month or so of focused rads training in residency and then tons experientially along the way as part of their training then tons more experience on the job. That still does not make them radiologists. Hope this helps.
