I'm on the D7 visa in Portugal as is my bro, his wife and my GF. In 4 more years we can become citizens and live anywhere in the EU. Two nephews are on long-term work-study programs in Germany. None of our moves solve all problems (we all have family scattered about the States) but it's a good start while we work out how to convince others to join us or go back for visits from time to time. Just an alternative thought.
