You have a troop, a herd, a gaggle, or a flock of followers. Or do you?

We’ve all heard of a herd
Or a flock, when referring to bird

A swarm of bees is familiar
A murder of crows is sim-ill-yer

But a fever of stingrays?
Seems kinda cray cray

There are porcupine prickles
Zebras zeal sort of fickle

Hippo’s gathering, a bloat
And fish schools do float

But what of the Medium mammals?
Are they a fleet like a grouping of camels?

They are not, I’d venture to pen
Not even a skulk of foxes, a-den

So how ‘bout a curators’ torture?
A snakes’ nest, a scorcher

A swallow of followers that follow
Some clap without…

Lots of ’em in this world.

A “skunk” in action * * * Photo by Ashley Jurius on Unsplash

Too easy to rhyme a skunk with stunk

But sometimes a hottie or hunk

Will mess with your mind

Like one of those kind

Who’s funked up, with junk in their “trunk”

Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) asked to be tagged for this one so she could check out the stink caused by her little limerick about skunks.

So, I’m doing it, as requested.

Feel free to loose your own brand of odoriferous offering, limerick or otherwise, on the world. Just please make sure it stinks … and it’s about skunks. Oh, and please tag me AND Lucy.

We’re getting somewhere … FINALLY! :-)

Movin’ on up! * * * Photo by Annie Spratt on Unsplash

We’re tiny … but fun.

And it’s all due to you, dear readers and writers.

I just started a new job so this’ll be brief. (You may also notice less writing output from me in the coming months. I’d take that as an unexpected gift, like the bonuses only without any money.)

“Doctor Funny” writers are getting noticed at a goodly rate. Their stories are being tweeted, FB’d and commented on, and best of all read!

I can’t go into all the hits since my last communication with y’all but here are a couple of highlights I’d urge you to…

From a dark time in history

Devil’s Bridge, Antigua
Slaves … tortured, murdered

For a time I lived on the Caribbean island of Antigua.

Devil’s Bridge is a stunningly beautiful but treacherous rocky outcropping prone to huge waves that crash violently on the sharp stones. One can cross Devil’s Bridge with extreme care, and I did, but seconds later look back to see the “bridge” covered with several feet of roiled surf.

History has it that slaves would be killed by being thrown into the sea here and left to be battered to death against the razor-sharp cliffs that ring the area. …

7/12/21 9:30 AM — The start of my starting over.

Follow along. See what you can learn from my experience of starting over in the midst of possibly the biggest social upheaval in our lifetimes.

2020 and 2021 have been interesting years for all of us.

Although I escaped unscathed health-wise from the coronavirus pandemic, like a lot of you, I had my life upended. Here’s the short list.

  • quit my job of 20 years, in a field I had been in for 30 years
  • worked for a time at a minimum wage job
  • felt rootless, unfocused and adrift
  • experienced…

Hmmmmm :-)

Turned inward

Be with the people you’re with, not with your phone. * * * Photo by ROBIN WORRALL on Unsplash

We’re living in an “e*-state” frame of mind
Multinationals’ momentum drive us and our kind
Even when out with others in a lovely field
To our phones and tech we yield
Selfies our form of photography
“Why?” remains a mystery
Throw off the yoke of inward-facing hell
Try again living in I. R. L.

What was ostensibly a tool, a servant, has become our master.

Couples wander the street faces downcast, staring at screens. Entire families, out for dinner, barely acknowledge one another’s presence at the table, preferring instead to tweet or text or otherwise disengage from…
